Believe (Pisteuo in Greek) means to rely upon – to trust. When we
rely upon or believe in Jesus Christ for eternal life it's a done deal. We are saved!
Ephesians 1:13 “In Him (Jesus Christ) you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom also, having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise” parenthesis mine
John 3:16-17 “For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.”
John 6:40 “And this is the will of Him who sent Me, that everyone who sees the Son and believes in Him may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day.” (the words of Jesus Christ)
Eternal life is a gift from God to all who will receive it through
Jesus Christ and Jesus Christ ALONE.
Acts 4:12 “Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.”
If we had to live a perfect life, or even a good life – it wouldn’t be
possible.
James 2:10 For whoever shall keep the whole law, and yet stumble in one point, he is guilty of all.
But we don’t – because Jesus was perfect and he took our place.
Through our belief in Christ his righteousness is imputed to us!
We have peace!
Romans 6:14 “For sin shall not have dominion over you, for you are not under law but under grace”
Galatians 3:24 “Therefore the law* was our tutor to bring us to Christ, that we might be justified by faith”
Romans 5:1 “Therefore having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ”
When we believe, rely upon, Jesus we become children of God –
once and for all time – he will never cast us out!
Galatians 4:4-5 But when the fullness of time had come, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law, that we might receive the adoption as sons.
Galatians 4:7 Therefore you are no longer a slave but a son, and if a son,
then an heir of God through Christ.
John 1:12 But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name:
1 John 5:1 “Whoever believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God,…”
1 John 5:4 “For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world – our faith”
John 6:37 “All that the Father gives Me will come to Me, and the one who comes to me I will by no means cast out.” (a promise from Jesus Christ)
Romans 8:38-39 For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
When you believe you can be sure you are going to heaven. You
can be sure you have eternal life!
1 John 5:11-12 And this is the testimony: that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. He who has the Son has life: he who does not have the son of God does not have the life.
1 John 5:13 “These things I have written you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life, and that you may continue to believe in the name of the Son of God”
John 5:24 “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears my word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgement, but has passed from death into life.” (the words of Jesus Christ)
Jesus tells us we HAVE eternal life when we believe in Him.
Either it IS that simple or he lied.
John 6:47 “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me has everlasting life”
Belief is obviously the key! You can’t rely upon anything else or
you fail to rely upon Christ.
You can’t rely upon baptism, you can’t rely upon a certain church
or going to church, you can’t rely upon being a good person or
doing good things. All these things are good and profitable but
they won’t get you to Heaven.
You must let go of everything and leave it all at the cross.
Rely solely upon Jesus Christ and you will go to heaven – this I
KNOW – for the Bible tells me so!

Jon,
I do not believe that Romans 6:14 is speaking specifically about the Mosaic, Jewish law, but generally anything that has law as a quality and characteristic.
In Romans 6:14 Law (nomos) is anarthrous.
His point is that we are not under any quality of law (legal relationship) as a way of life. We have laws, the law of Christ, but law, as a way of life, has legal prescriptions of behavior with attendent consequences for failure.
I do believe that he is talking about the Mosaic law in Gal 3:24, as it is an articular construction.
You may correct me if you think I'm wrong...
